Mr. Lees has significant experience in regulatory agencies such as the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as well as litigation in all courts of Colorado, including federal, district, NASD, and appellate. The firm has received recognition for various significant precedent setting cases such as in mental health law, civil rights, zoning, employment, and first amendment rights. Due to the high cost of litigation, both in direct costs and in time lost by the client, the firm will assess and identify favorable areas of mediation and arbitration. Robert A. Lees & Associates schedules numerous informational seminars each quarter for counselors, therapists, and medical providers, including doctors and dentists. These are qualified continuing education units. The firm advises its professional clientele in regulatory compliance, employment law, nonprofit, and preventative law including employment contracts and asset protection. Mr. Lees assists the Colorado Legislature on drafting new laws and in testifying for the benefit of his clientele and assists state grievance boards in regulatory considerations. Robert Lees was appointed by Governor Bill Owens to the Board of Licensed Professional Counselors in Colorado and completed that appointment in December 2006.
